What happened to Tinkr?

Tinkr was the macOS unlocker that bots and rotations ran through, and BadRotations' setup guide supported it. A July 2025 user review put it at EUR 20 a month plus EUR 10 per extra session. In January 2026 users on elitepvpers described it as finished and blamed Blizzard's enforcement on macOS. I found no official shutdown notice, and a later directory post simply marks it offline. The old domain is a stranger story. As of September 2026 tinkr.site shows NilName's sales page along with an accusation that Tinkr exit-scammed, and the docs subdomain is parked. Nobody has explained who controls the domain or why it changed, so I wouldn't read much into the accusation. Don't buy anything that claims to be Tinkr from that address. TinkrDocs

Ban reports from Tinkr's later years never settled whether Tinkr or the scripts on top of it were to blame. In a 2024 thread one participant put the bans down to the Awful framework and said they didn't show a Tinkr detection. What happened to Baneto?

Baneto was a profile-based bot for questing, grinding, gathering, fishing, battlegrounds and dungeons on Classic and Retail, and it always needed a separate unlocker. On 28 October 2025 a statement attributed to Baneto said development, support, sales and service would stop immediately after contact from Blizzard and Activision legal representatives. iXBT reproduced it the next day. I couldn't authenticate the original private announcement, so the shutdown counts as reported rather than proven. Otenab gets named as the successor now and then. Nothing public backs that up. Halenir lists Otenab as one of the bots that need TCX, and that's about all anyone can say about it. BlizzardTCX

What happened to Honorbuddy and Glider?

These two are why Baneto's lawyer story sounded familiar. Glider, made by Michael Donnelly's MDY Industries, played WoW for you unattended. Blizzard sued, and in July 2008 a US district court held MDY liable for contributory copyright infringement, a finding the Ninth Circuit reversed in December 2010. Honorbuddy, from Bossland, lasted until 2017. After a court ordered Bossland to pay about USD 8.6 million in April 2017, the company said in November that Honorbuddy and several of its other bots would close, with existing licences running until 31 December. What happened to EWT, UCS and FireHack?

Easy WoW Toolbox (EWT) combined a Lua unlocker with fishing, morphing and tracking tools, and BadRotations listed it as a supported platform. It closed in January 2021. A forum post reproduced a notice saying the project stopped after contact from Blizzard, and three days later Orca's seller announced a move to MiniBot. Community reportCommunity reportGitHub

United Combat Solutions (UCS) sold KFM for PvE and HandsFree for PvP and casual PvE, on separate subscriptions. It closed in May 2021, and the provider said a legal demand to its kernel-technology supplier forced the shutdown. FireHack, a Windows unlocker from the Legion era, just fades out of the record. What happened to HyperElk and AimSharp?

HyperElk sold rotations. On 27 August 2023 a player on Blizzard's EU forum said thousands of HyperElk users had been banned the previous Wednesday, which lines up with the 23 August rotation-bot wave. The thousands figure is one player's claim. I found no closure notice for HyperElk and nothing reliable on what the service did afterwards. BlizzardUnbanster

AimSharp was a rotation bot for WoW that later branched into other games. Its Trustpilot reviews stop in September 2024, and the ones from early 2024 complain about paying and getting nothing that worked. There's no shutdown notice I can point to either. Are GMR and Forge still around?

GMR isn't confirmed dead, just quiet. Its community script repository on GitLab is public and had a commit in September 2025, but the service site didn't connect when I checked in September 2026, so I can't say whether the paid bot still sells. Community reportCommunity reportGmrwow

Forge, a gathering and grinding bot that Halenir sold for NilName and TCX users, disappeared more recently. On 22 September 2026 its product page returned 404 and Halenir's catalog API had no Forge entry. The last price it showed was $5 to $50. HalenirHalenir

What do people use now instead?

For Tinkr's old job on a Mac, the listed options are Lunar Unlocker, which runs natively on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs (its Windows routines use NilName Advanced instead), and GL Epsilon, which Gotham lists for macOS 12.0 to 26.3. For Baneto-style questing and farming, PS Bot adds unattended play to Project Sylvanas (you pay for PS Base as well), SIN/SIO bundles its own unlocker, and AKH does Retail gathering on top of a NilName licence. If you used EWT, UCS or FireHack, the modern equivalent is an unlocker plus a routine. My current order puts Project Sylvanas Private first and WardenGG second, and the tier list has the rest. For a HyperElk-style rotation, Murlocs and Phoenix run on unlockers, while GGLoader is a pixel product that doesn't need one.
